AssalamuAlaikkum(Peace be upon you)
Dear brother,
Have you ever wondered the real purpose of our existence in this universe?
Did you ever observe closely the nature around you? No one can deny the science underlying such meticulous planning and execution of each and every process around us.
Take the case of the human body. You will be amazed to know that even while reading this, trillions of cells are ceaselessly carrying out a number of processes without you even being a ware of them. Our heart pumps about 8000 liters/day into the circulatory system. The total length of the circulatory system, including blood vessels stretches an amazing 160,000 km,almost 4 times the circumference of earth. Our kidneys purify about 1500 liters of blood per day. Nerve impulses from and to our brain can travel as fast as 75 m/sec. There still awaits many surprises as we voyage around our own body, just one of the species in the animal kingdom
Islam emphasizes that this bountiful universe didn’t came into existence merely by chance or accident but it is the construct of a Master Planner. Muslims refer to this Divine Creator by the term“Allah” derived from the Arabic words “Alilah” literary meaning “The God”. The name Allah was used even in pre-Islamic Arabia to refer to the Supreme Creator, the Omnipotent. Not just the God of Arabs or Muslims. The most important concept in Islam is the belief in One True God, who has no partners, no son, no equal. Nothing is comparable to God and none of his creation resembles Him. He alone is worthy of worship, the All-Knowing, the All Wise.
“And your god is one God. There isno deity [worthy of worship] except Him,the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.”(Quran 2:163)
“And worship Allah and join nonewith Him in worship”(Quran 2:163)
Allah chooses certain persons among mankind for the task of guiding them through the Straight Path. These prophet shave walked upon the earth in different ages and nations enjoining what is right and forbidding the evil. Some of them received scriptures from Almighty which were passed down to the people of their times.
“Say, [O believers], “We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descend ant sand what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.” (Quran2:136)
Prophet Muhammad is the last and final Messenger. The revelations of Almighty sent down to Muhammad (Peace be upon him) throughout his life time form the verses of the Quran, the last and final testament. Quran is the literal word of God that provides guidance to help mankind judge between right and wrong. There is no way Muhammad could have authored Quran, a literary miracle, since history confirms him to be an illiterate. Quran is the only religious text that remains as pure as the day it was revealed. It confirms the little truth that remains in parts of previous scriptures and refutes the fabrications and additions which have crept into the current day versions of such scriptures.
“Verily, We have sent down to you(O Muhammad) the Book (this Quran) for mankind in truth.” (Quran 39:41)
“Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur’an and indeed, We will be its guardian.”(Quran 15:9)
Do we really need to follow these guidelines from Quran and the final Messenger? Will there be any consequence for all our actions on this earth? Muslims believe that this worldly life is just an examination were our obedience to Almighty is carefully observed and recorded. Death marks the end of our trial and the beginning of a new life. After death, human beings will leave this present ephemeral abode and, on the Day of Judgement will enter another world, which will be eternal. Those who have done good deeds in this world will be rewarded and those who have transgressed Allah’s path will suffer for eternity. The choice is ours.
“And the life of this world is nothing but play and amusement. But far better is the house in the Hereafter for those who are righteous. Will you not then understand?” (Quran 6:32)
“There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path.”(Quran 2:256)
It is very sad to know that campuses have now become centres of drugs, liquor, pornography and sex. These acts not only poison the minds of the younger generation but it also kills their productive time. Students unknowingly become slaves of this trade. Reinforcing the moral fibre is the only way to get rid of this disease. The belief in the Hereafter naturally has a great influence on the life of a believer. When he knows that God is watching all his actions, his behaviour will be responsible.Realize the real purpose of our existence which will help you lead a peaceful life, a life as ordained by our Creator for our own benefit.
